I was recently watching a documenary Working online and traveling the world — digital nomads. For those are not familiar with the term they are people who travel around the world whilst working on freelance jobs online and hopping around from different country to pick up new freelance projects or for more experienced digital nomads and like many masters in any field they will sell the service of how to live this lifestyle to other up and coming rather desperate digital Nomads. (I think I have now overused the word and I am only 2 sentences in) This was uploaded in 2018 and I doubt it was filmed no more than 2 years before this and watching this, felt like I was watching a dystopia it felt very disconnected from our current climate it also showed how far we have come since the pandemic. We have change so much as a global entity. The prospect of working from home (WFH) in 2018 was almost out of the norm and small percentage of people where able to do so. Understandbly as there was a name for this “digital nomad” this let you imagine how disconnected it was from the majority People whereby going to into location for work was the norm.
For many people working whilst sipping on a sangaria in sunny Spain meant you were living the “good life” unsurprisingly now, that predominantly many us now, if your work requires a computer you have likely experienced working from home this year and although we all have our dream destination to travel too. The dream destination will remain as such for much longer.
Live in the Caribbean for 1 year for free
However there are postives to come as countries such as Barbados have introduced the WFH visas allowing British citizens to live in Barbados tax free. This means if your job requires you to work 9–5 uk time you will need to be able to adjust to that in Barbados that will be 4am-1pm (I don’t think it’s that bad) and you can be enjoy holiday lifestyle as much as you can.

Budget: £500 a month (2 bed flat share) Mile End vs Barbados
Conveniently located the Mile End flat in zone 2 is just a minutes away from the heart of London with the central line. It’s rare to find flat with only 1 person to share for £500 that isn’t box a room especially in this location. An ideal room with the desk ready for your work from home with a view. Comfortable/modern 4 bedroom flat close to Queen Mary University (about 7 minutes walk through Mile End Park).
